This special cooking class takes place in a beautifully preserved kominka (traditional Japanese house) in the peaceful countryside of Tamba Sasayama. You’ll experience the charm of traditional wooden architecture, the comfort of sitting on tatami mats, soft natural light filtering through shoji screens, and serene views of the garden etc.

We’ll cook with fresh, seasonal ingredients from nearby farmers—like premium Tamba beef, black soybeans, and local rice served in beautiful Tamba ware. This experience not only nourishes your body with the finest local ingredients, but also helps sustain the local community and its traditions.

Tamba Sasayama is a peaceful, rural town surrounded by forests and mountains. It had a historical castle long time ago. After your cooking lesson, you’re free to explore the city’s attractions at your own pace. We can offer a local guide at your request.

Cook in a Hidden Gem of Old Japan
This special Tamba Sasayama studio is just about 70mins by car from Kobe or Osaka. If you’re not driving, we can meet at JR Sasayamaguchi Station, which is about 50mins from Osaka by express train. We’ll provide transportation to and from the studio (15mins).

Sukiyaki is a traditional Japanese hot pot dish that brings people together—featuring melt-in-your-mouth Tamba beef in a rich, flavorful broth.
Udon is Japanese traditional noodles providing a nice chewy and comforting flavor with each bite.
Includes:
– Sukiyaki with premium Tamba beef and seasonal vegetables
– Homemade udon noodles
– Rice cooked with local Tamba black soybeans
– Tamba-style coffee jelly dessert
– Kuromame (black soybean) tea
